Donut Hole Muffins

Better than donuts, and so much easier! These are addictive … 

1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup salted butter, melted
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unbleached flour

For sugaring:
6 Tbsp. salted butter, melted
3/4 cup sugar
teaspoons ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease 24 mini-muffin cups.

Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup melted butter, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Stir in the milk, then mix in the baking powder and flour until just combined. Fill the prepared mini muffin cups about half full.

Bake until the tops are lightly golden, about 15 minutes.

While muffins are baking, place 6 Tbps. of melted butter in a bowl. In a clean paper or plastic bag, combine ¾ cup of sugar with the 1½ teaspoons cinnamon. Remove muffins from their cups, dip each muffin in the melted margarine, and place, six at a time, in the bag with the sugar-cinnamon mixture. Shake until well coated.
